1) From ABC News, I’m Daria
Albinger. President Trump is out of sight. He’s continued to recover from
Covid-19, but he is back in the Oval Office with his staff, says a number of safeguards
in place. “White House still won’t give exact date when the President last tested
negative for Covid-19. Spokesperson Brian Morgenstern still refusing to
make it clear. ‘I don’t know when he last tested negative and I’ve answered
this question a number of times.’ The President’s aids and doctors still not
saying if there was any indication the President was infected before his debate
with Joe Biden or his trip to see donors in New Jersey. Andy Field,
ABC News, Washington.”
2) Stocks jumped after the President appeared to backtrack
on the decision to table talks for another coronavirus rescue package until after
the election. The Dow soaring more than 500 points.
3) Tonight it’s the running mates’ turn. Vice President Pence
and Democrat Kamala Harris will meet in Salt Lake City for their only
debate of the campaign. Michigan school bus driver Tom Moran drove to
Utah to stand outside the debate hall. “I drove 23 hours. I think it was about 1600
miles and I would do it again. I would crawl over broken glass to replace this
President.” The virus is expected to be a central focus. The candidates are
going to be separated by a plexiglass partition.
4) In Wisconsin, a crowd has gathered outside the Milwaukee
County Courthouse, waiting to hear police officer Joseph Mensah who faced
criminal charges in the February shooting death of Alvin Cole outside
the mall in Wausatosa.
5) Delta may be losing strength but Louisiana
Governor John Bel Edwards says coastal residents should still prepare
for a major storm later this week. “Former track has shifted a little bit west.
It is still true that the overwhelming majority of the coast of Louisiana will
remain in the cone.” Delta is now category 1, 85-mph winds, but it is expected
to get stronger again as it moves out of the Gulf of Mexico. You’re listening
to A BC News.
