1) From ABC News, I’m Chuck Sivertsen. “It will happen by the end of today,” says President Biden. The US will hit his goal of getting 200 million COVID shots in New Orleans on his 92nd day in office. Now the focus, ABC’s Karen Travers in Washington. “President Biden today calling on every employer in the US to offer full pay to their employees for any time off needed to get vaccinated. “No working American should lose a single dollar from their paycheck because they chose to fulfill their patriotic duty of getting vaccinated.” The Biden Administration announcing a paid leave tax credit to offset cost for businesses that have fewer than 500 employees.” CDC reports say average count of people getting their first COVID shots started dropping nine days ago.

2) President’s been briefed on one of the latest police shootings this morning. Columbus, Ohio, the 16-year-old girl was shot to death. City leader says a 9-1-1 call came in about someone trying to stab somebody. Shots were fired, with bodycam footage. Interim Police Chief Michael Woods says the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has the case. “The important step now is for BCI to conduct an independent and transparent investigation. The Columbus Division of Police will assist them but we will not interfere in any investigative process that they have.”

3) Justice Department announcing it will investigate the practices of the Minneapolis Police Department. ABC’s Aaron Katersky. “In the statement, Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said he welcomes the investigation and pledged full cooperation, as the Justice Department decides whether the department uses excessive force or engages in discriminatory conduct. The chief who testified for the prosecution in the trail of Derek Chauvin said he wants to make Minneapolis police the best department possible after it was left reeling by the killing of George Floyd.

4) A North Carolina deputy shot and killed a Black man while executing a search warrant today. __ some people’s house, demanding answers. Officials say they’ll get them. There is an investigation. You’re listening to ABC News.

The major averages rebounded after two straight days of declines as investors continue to pass earning results. The Dow rising 316 points, the Nasdaq up 164, S&P 500 up 38. // And after the closing bell, Chipotle Mexican Grill delivered financial results blowing past Wall Street expectations for its first quarter. Ongoing strength for its online orders and a tailwind from stimulus checks helped push its sales more than 20% higher. Chipotle is expecting same store sales growth as high 30% in the 2nd quarter. // And Lam Research reported record quarterly results which show proof that chipmakers are spending more to build out their capacity amid the global semiconductor shortage. // And Ford is planning more downtime at five North American factories due to the semiconductor shortage, further disrupting output of the F-150 pickup truck, the company’s biggest money maker.

1) From ABC News, I’m Daria Albinger. A nationwide pause of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine will last a bit longer. A panel looking into a rare but potentially dangerous side effect, a blood clot associated with a shot, says they want more data. Arkansas Secretary of Health Jose Romero, “We will not have to arrive at a vote today or a recommendation today, and if we need more information and if we need more time to think about this, we can reconvene later this week. Perhaps we can.” The panel will try to meet again in a week to ten days from now.

2) President Biden says the U.S. troops will be out of Afghanistan by September 11th. “President Biden knows critics say it’s not the right time to pull troops out of Afghanistan. His response, ‘We have to change that thinking. American troops shouldn’t be used as a bargaining chip between warring parties in other countries.’ The President promising those troops will start coming home next month. The last will leave by next September 11th, the 20th anniversary of the attack. Andy Field, ABC News, Washington.” Republican Senator Lindsey Graham doesn’t trust the Taliban. “Never forget the enemy. It takes two to end the war, folks. They’re not close to quitting.” About 7,000 NATO troops will also leave.

3) The Mayor of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota Mike Elliott is asking that any protest tonight over the death of Daunte Wright be peaceful. “We are going to strive to ensure the safety of our residents and our staff including our public safety officers, and we are working to safeguard our businesses and other gathering places from damage.” Kim Potter, the former police officer, who shot and killed Wright during the traffic stop has been charged with the second-degree manslaughter.

4) The trial of former Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin resumes tomorrow morning. Today a forensic pathologist, witness for the defense, testified George Floyd died from a cardiac disturbance caused by heart disease. You’re listening to ABC News.

Stocks finished mixed with the S&P 500 notching another record close and the Nasdaq jumping as tech stocks climbed as bond yields fell. Shares of Johnson & Johnson dragged the Dow lower as the U.S. health regulators recommended a pause in using a single dose COVID-19 vaccine. Travel stocks including airline cruise operators and hotel fell due to the J&J news. The Dow falling 68 points, the Nasdaq up 146, S&P 500 up 14. And NVIDIA stocks rose 3%, heading a 52-week high as analysts hiked price targets, and applauded the chip maker’s plan to branch out into its rivals’ territory. And Apple, one of the Dow gainers, its stock rising over 2% after the tech Titan announced that it plans to hold an event on April the 20th. Apple did not specify on the website what the event will cover, but according to MacRumors, the event could potentially showcase new iPad Pro devices.

1) From ABC News, I’m Daria Albinger. President Biden says he is open to negotiating his more-than-$2-trillion infrastructure plan with Republicans on some things. “Republican Mitch McConnell says its cost and tax too much with the economy finally recovering. ‘We don’t need to lay on heavy tax increase on top of that.” President Biden insisted infrastructure is not just rebuilding roads, rails and airports. “Because today’s high-speed internet is infrastructure.” The debate has just begun. Andy Field, ABC News, Washington.”                                                    

2) The White House says the President will announce executive actions tomorrow on gun control. They will reportedly involve so-called ghost guns and background checks.

3) A lead investigator into the death of George Floyd took the stand today in the murder trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. Senior Special Agent James Reyerson was asked by Defense Attorney Eric Nelson about a clip from police bodycam video that was taken on the day Floyd was arrested and died. “Did you hear that?” “Yes, I did.” “Did it appear that Mr. Floyd said I ate too many drugs?” “Yes, it did.” Chauvin who pinned the handcuffed Floyd to the ground with his knee on Floyd’s neck has pleaded not guilty.

4) We now know what caused an automobile crash in California that left Tiger Woods seriously injured. “Tiger Woods was speeding and lost control. That’s a conclusion of investigators in their final report on the crash, determining drugs or alcohol were not involved. L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva, ‘The primary cause of the fact for this traffic collision was driving at a speed unsafe for the road conditions and the inability to negotiate the curve of the roadway.’ He says black box data shows his crash unfolded. Woods was going almost 90 miles an hour. Woods will not be charged. Alex Stone, ABC News, Los Angeles.”

Stocks finishing mixed as investors weighed comments from Federal Reserve’s latest policy meeting. Officials pointing to a brighter outlook for the economy, while agreeing to provide continued support to super low interest rates and large monthly bond purchases. Shares of cruise line operators jumped in their optimism about a swift economic recovery from the pandemic. Tech companies also gain as Treasury yield held steady while industrials and utilities lagged. The Dow closing up 16 points, the Nasdaq down 10, S&P 500 up 6. Shares of JPMorgan Chase, one of the Dow’s biggest gainers after CEO Jamie Dimon said the U.S. economy is headed for a boom that could run well into 2023. And Royal Dutch Shell said it will return to oil production quarterly profits for the first time since the pandemic began driven by higher commodity prices, however, the Texas winter storm will impact its earnings.

1) From ABC News, I’m Daria Albinger. President Biden outlining his next major priority, a more than $2 trillion infrastructure plan to modernize roads, fix bridges and much more. “It’s big, yes. It’s bold, yes. And we can get it done.” He wants to pay for it by raising the corporate tax rates. “Fireman and teacher paying 22%. Amazon and 90 other major corporations paying zero in federal taxes. I’m gonna put an end to that.” Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, it’s not fair. “We’ve reached a critical point here. And I hope we’re not beginning to engage in the habit of anytime we want to do something, call it a national emergency and run up the national debt.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would like to see the bill passed by July 4th.

2) More emotional testimony today in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin accused of murder and manslaughter by kneeling on the neck of George Floyd. “Testimony from Charles McMillian became very emotional. He was standing just feet from the squad car as officers attempted to get George Floyd inside the vehicle. He was also just feet away when Floyd ended up on the floor underneath the knee of Derek Chauvin. Prosecutors played back videos of the incident bringing McMillan into tears. "Oh, my God." The judge called a short recess to allow McMillan to compose himself. Mark Remillard, ABC News.”

3) ABC News has learned that Manhattan DA’s office subpoenaed the personal financial records of Trump organization CFO Allen Weisselberg. He is in a focus into an investigation of a financial dealing with the former president and his family and company. 

 4) South Dakota is opening up COVID-19 vaccination to anyone over the age of 16, starting on Monday. You’re listening to ABC News.

Stocks ending mixed on the last trading day of the month in quarter with major averages posting a 4th quarterly gain as investors digested the potential impact from President Biden’s infrastructure spending plan. Bank of America notes that the biggest beneficiaries will likely be industrial and material stocks. Tech companies were among the gainers today as jumping bond yield eased. The Dow falling 85 points, the Nasdaq up 201, S&P 500 up 14 for a record close. And payroll processing company ADP says there are 517,000 new jobs created by private employers this month. The biggest gains since September as reopening of the economy boosted the growth in the service sector. Microsoft stock rose nearly 2% after the software giant said it has won a deal to serve the U.S. Army augmented reality headsets. The contract could be worth up to $22 billion over ten years.
