1) From ABC News, I’m Daria
Albinger. After last night performance, some are wondering if there will be
a second presidential debate or if there should be. “The President suggesting
he delivered such a kickout punch against rival Joe Biden Tuesday night
that, ‘I hear he doesn’t want to go forward.’ In fact, Joe Biden says that
isn’t true and that he agrees with debate organizers to cut a candidate’s
microphone if they do not stop talking. ‘That’s what seemed to me to make some
sense. But I’m looking, I’m looking forward to that.’ Both candidates must
agree to any debate rule changes. Andy Field, ABC News, Washington.
2) The president asked again today to publicly condemn
white supremacist groups after he refused to do so last night. South Carolina’s
Tim Scott, the chambers’ only African-American Republican, “I think he
misspoke in response to Chris Wallace’s comment. He was asking Chris
what he wanted to say. I think he misspoke. I think he should correct it. If he
doesn’t correct it, I guess he didn’t misspeak.” A White House spokesperson
says there is nothing to clarify.
3) Stocks
rallied with investors motivated by the possibility of a new coronavirus relief
package. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, “I think it’s safe to
say we’re far apart. I think Secretary Mnuchin and the Speaker will continue
to speak but we are very, very far apart.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin met today to talk about the new stimulus package
for the first time in more than a month.
4) Police
say an apparent drive-by shooting outside the Milwaukee funeral home left seven
wounded. Acting Chief Michael Brunson. “The victims were transported to
a local hospital where they are being treated for their injuries. Right now,
all of them are in stable condition. He says the search for a suspect is
underway.
5) A
court’s approved more than $8 million in payouts from MGM Resorts International
to the relatives and victims of a Las Vegas Strip shooting, the deadliest
shooting of its kind in recent U.S. history. You’re listening to ABC News.
