1) From ABC News, I’m Chuck Sivertsen. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she rejects two of Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s five recommendations for the January 6th Capitol insurrection committee. Jim Banks of Indiana and Jim Jordan of Ohio who both voted to overturn the election results. In response, McCarthy accuses Pelosi of abusing her power. “Unless Speaker Pelosi reverses course and seats all five Republicans, we will not participate.” The committee does still have one Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney chosen by Pelosi. “At every opportunity the Minority Leader has attempted to prevent the American people from understanding what happened to block this investigation.” McCarthy says Republicans will run on own investigation.

2) Senate Republicans rejected an effort to begin debate on the big infrastructure deal. The bipartisan group of Senators brokered with President Biden. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, “But we’ve been encouraged and grateful, encouraged by the progress and grateful to the work of both the Democrats and Republicans involved.” The bipartisan group of negotiators releasing a statement saying they’re close in the final agreement and that they will continue to work. 

3) President Biden is on the road in Cincinnati. The nation’s largest public utility company making a big announcement that could save lives and prevent many wildfires in the West. “After being responsible for numerous large and some deadly wildfires, Pacific Gas & Electric says it will begin burying 10,000 miles of power lines in California’s highest risk areas to cut the chance of lines coming down in high winds. PG&E CEO Patti Poppe, “We are committing today to undertake one of the largest infrastructure projects in the history of our state.” PG&E says one of several large wildfires burning in California right now is likely sparked by its power lines. 4) California reports more than 5,000 new COVID cases in just one day, largely among unvaccinated populations. You’re listening to ABC News.

Stocks climbed higher for the second day and recouped all the loses they suffered on Monday. Investors were focused on strong earnings results. Energy and financials were among the biggest gainers. The Dow rising 286 points, the Nasdaq up 133, S&P 500 up 36. // And Coca-Cola delivered robust financial result that topped expectations and raised its forecast for the year. The beverage giant says sales were picked up with the reopening of restaurants, stadiums and movie theaters. Its shares closed up over 1%. // And Texas Instruments stocks falling after hours despite reporting better than expected quarterly results with 7% revenue increase from the previous quarter and 41% increase from the year earlier driven by strong demand in industrial automotive and personal electronics.

1) From ABC News, I’m Chuck Sivertsen. An agreement announced that several trillion-dollar budget plan focusing what President Biden calls Human Infrastructure, education, childcare and more. The President met with several mayors and governors at the White House. “I think we’re in good shape. There may be some slight adjustments in order to pay for it. That’s going to get down to what the Congress wants to do. I’ve laid out how I think we pay for it. We have an agreement; we have an agreement.” The President also talking about what he says urgent need to overcome ID voter laws.

2) Interpreters and other Afghanis and their families who helped the U.S. forces in Afghanistan will get U.S. help if they want to leave the country. “We’ll begin those relocation flights by the end of this month. As for where they will go, no word yet from Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby.

3) U.S. daily new coronavirus cases up surged more than 21,000 up over 40% just last week, says the U.S. Health and Human Services Department.

4) Breaking News. New York federal judges thrown out the suspension of horse trainer Bob Baffert finding that the New York Racing Association acted unconstitutionally by failing to let him adequately respond to claims made against him after Kentucky Derby winner, Medina Spirit failed to post-race drug test.

5) The battle getting tougher. ABC’s Alex Stone in Los Angeles. In Washington and Oregon, now the highest wildfire alert level. They’re beginning to call for outside help to bring in more firefighters. Californians asked dealing with several large fires. Most of them burning in the West right now, wilderness in a way from large population. Fires naturally cleans out the forest and so in some cases allowing them to burn in remote areas is prefered.

6) Just released by police officials 911 calls after the South Florida condo tower started crumbling. “I’m at Champlain Tower, something is going on. You have to get us out of here.” “What is the address? “Champlain Tower.” Total death over 90. You’re listening to ABC News.

Stocks ended mixed. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell told members of Congress that the Central Bank is pledging powerful support to complete the economic recovery from the pandemic. Inflation worries for back and focus after the June producer price index came in harder than expected. The index which measures increased wholesale levels of 7.3% in a year ending in June. The Dow rising 44points, the Nasdaq down 33, S&P 500 up 5. // Shares of Apple jumped over 2%, boosting the company’s valuation to nearly $2.5 trillion on report said that the tech tycoon asked suppliers to wrap up production of its next generation of iPhone by 20%. // And Peloton stocks tumbled over 5% falling down a downgrade from Peloton as a result of consumers now having a growing number of walkout alternative.

1) From ABC News, I’m Daria Albinger. President Biden calls Human Infrastructure the second critical half of his domestic agenda. And today he went to Illinois looking for support for a bill, he says, will improve it. “The President telling Illinois families other countries wonder why. ‘We are one of the few major economies in the world that doesn’t cover paid family medical leave.’ President Biden wants billions to change that and an American family plan that may have to pass for the Democrats only reconciliation bill. “No one should have to choose between a job and a paycheck and taking care of someone you love.’ Andy Field, ABC News, Washington.” 

2) At least 46 deaths are now blamed on the collapse of a condominium building in Surfside, Florida. Ten more bodies have been pulled from the debris, nearly 100 are unaccounted for. The city’s Mayor Charles Burkett says it will take time to determine what brought the building down. “I’m slightly afraid we cannot find that the construction design they used 40-50 years ago might be flawed.” Improved weather conditions today allowed crews to work more quickly.

3) Tropical storm watchers and warnings are in effect from Georgia to Massachusetts with tropical storm Elsa moving over the Jacksonville, Florida area.

4) A state of emergency in Haiti after the nation’s president was assassinated. Haiti’s interim prime minister Claude Joseph saying he and the council of ministers decided to declare quote ‘state of siege onf the whole territory.’ Joseph is also asking the population to keep calm and calling on the country to be one in condemning president’s assassination, adding quote ‘President Jovenel Moise will not die without getting justice. You can kill him. You can kill President Jovenel Moise but he will not kill his ideas’ end quote. __ __ ABC News at the foreign desk.

5) Dubai state media says a fire on a container ship in one of the world’s largest ports is under control.

The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq closing at all-time highs of 15 points and one point respectively. The record finishes coming after minutes released from the Federal Reserve June meeting show policy makers debated slowing down the bond buying spree triggered by the pandemic but no decision appears to be imminent. The Dow also finished on top gaining 104. Higher gas prices during the summer travel season are nothing new but experts say drivers should prepare to pay even more, GasBuddy head of petroleum analysist Patrick de Hann telling Fox Business he expects prices will rise another 5 to 15 cents per gallon by the end of the month. The CDC is appealing a ruling that the government COVID-19 restrictions on the cruise line industry were excessive. The agency initially grounded all cruises in March of 2020 but allowed ships to sail again in October under a four-part phased approach known as conditional sailing order. A judge overturned the order after Florida governor Ron DeSantis sued the CDC.

1) From ABC News, I’m Daria Albinger. Bill Cosby’s home with sexual assault conviction overturned. The actor and comedian’s attorney Jennifer Bonjean, “Thankfully, they thought the way that we thought, where we always believed full, fully, that he never should have been prosecuted because there was an agreement made. He relied on that agreement, and you can’t have a system where prosecutors don’t hold up to their words.” Pennsylvania’s highest court said the decision not to charge Cosby by prosecutors in 2005 should have prevented him from being charged by different prosecutors years later. “He is a sociopath. He is a serial rapist.” Victoria Valentino tells ABC news she is disturbed because Cosby gets to go free. “My stomach is lurching and I am deeply distressed about being justice of the whole thing.” She claims Cosby drugged and raped her in 1969 but Cosby’s former TV wife is celebrating his release. Phylicia Rashad tweeting quoted a terrible wrong is being righted. A miscarriage of justice is corrected. Jason Nathanson, ABC News, Hollywood.

2) A new game plan for the NCAA (NC double A) has announced college athletes can get paid off endorsements.

3) The House votes to create a Select Committee to look into a January 6th attack on the Capitol. Maryland Democrat Steny Hoyer. “The American people are still demanding answers and accountability and they deserve both. They want to know that steps are been taken to understand what happened and take measures to ensure that it never happens again.” Republicans say the committee will be too bipartisan.

4) Sources tell ABC News Manhattan D.A. could file charges as soon as tomorrow against former president Trump’s company.

5) At least 16 people are dead nearly a week after the partial collapse of a high-rise condominium in Surfside, Florida. One hundred forty-seven people are still unaccounted for and the authorities say the rescue mission will continue.

Stocks ended mixed with the S&P 500 notching 5th straight record close on the last trading day of the month and the first half of the year. The Major Averages were powered by economic recovery that many investors believe it’s still gathering steam. The Dow rising 210 points, the Nasdaq down 24, S&P 500 up 6. // And the private sector of the U.S. added 692,000 jobs in June, and dropped from the previous month but still above economists’ estimate, according to the latest ADP National Employment report. Economists survey by the Wall Street Journal are expecting strong June employment report from the labor department on Friday. // LegalZoom made its Wall Street debut with shares hopping 35% from its initial public offering price of $28. LegalZoom provides legal and compliance services and operates across all 50 states.

1) From ABC News, I’m Daria Albinger. President Biden is explaining how his Administration will take aim at gun violence with homicide hits on the rise. His comprehensive strategy targets law-breaking gun dealers, “If you willfully fail to run a background check, if you willfully falsify a record, if you willfully fail to cooperate with the tracing requests to inspections, my message to you is this. We will find you and we’ll seek your license to sell guns. It also provides federal resources to police departments and allows communities to repurpose federal COVID-19 relief funding, programs which prevent gun violence.

2) Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to El Paso, Texas Friday along with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says they will be waiting for the appropriate time, “We're at this point, in part, because we've made a great deal of progress, and if you look just to a couple of months ago when 6,000 children were in border patrol facilities, we're now at the point where there's far less than 1,000.” Former President Trump will also visit the southern border next week.

3) A new warning is coming from the FDA about the risk of a heart condition which may be associated with COVID-19 vaccine. “The warning for pertaining healthcare providers, vaccine recipients and caregivers according to the FDA and will likely include statement __ __ but sometimes serious cases of myocarditis in some recipients of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. This comes after an emergency hearing by the CDC Vaccine Advisory Panel to discuss higher than expected cases of myocarditis in young adults recently vaccinated. The panel’s Chair said Wednesday there’s an update that suggests a likely association between the cases and mRNA vaccine. Mark Remillard, ABC News.

4) Antivirus software pioneer John McAfee has been found dead in a Spanish prison.

The Dow falling 71 points, the Nasdaq up 18, for another record close, S&P 500 down 5. // Antivirus software entrepreneur John McAfee has died by an apparent suicide in a Spanish jail cell. Hours after the report surfaced that he will be extradited to the U.S. to face criminal tax evasion charges according to local media. The eccentric tech tycoon who developed McAfee antivirus software was arrested in Spain in October for allegedly failing to pay taxes on years of income. McAfee was 75. // And Southwest Airline’s longtime Chief Executive Officer Gary Kelly is stepping down next year. He will pass the CEO baton to Senior Executive Bob Jordan next February.
