1) From ABC News, I’m Chuck Sivertsen. “It will happen by the end of today,” says President Biden. The US will hit his goal of getting 200 million COVID shots in New Orleans on his 92nd day in office. Now the focus, ABC’s Karen Travers in Washington. “President Biden today calling on every employer in the US to offer full pay to their employees for any time off needed to get vaccinated. “No working American should lose a single dollar from their paycheck because they chose to fulfill their patriotic duty of getting vaccinated.” The Biden Administration announcing a paid leave tax credit to offset cost for businesses that have fewer than 500 employees.” CDC reports say average count of people getting their first COVID shots started dropping nine days ago.

2) President’s been briefed on one of the latest police shootings this morning. Columbus, Ohio, the 16-year-old girl was shot to death. City leader says a 9-1-1 call came in about someone trying to stab somebody. Shots were fired, with bodycam footage. Interim Police Chief Michael Woods says the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has the case. “The important step now is for BCI to conduct an independent and transparent investigation. The Columbus Division of Police will assist them but we will not interfere in any investigative process that they have.”

3) Justice Department announcing it will investigate the practices of the Minneapolis Police Department. ABC’s Aaron Katersky. “In the statement, Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said he welcomes the investigation and pledged full cooperation, as the Justice Department decides whether the department uses excessive force or engages in discriminatory conduct. The chief who testified for the prosecution in the trail of Derek Chauvin said he wants to make Minneapolis police the best department possible after it was left reeling by the killing of George Floyd.

4) A North Carolina deputy shot and killed a Black man while executing a search warrant today. __ some people’s house, demanding answers. Officials say they’ll get them. There is an investigation. You’re listening to ABC News.

The major averages rebounded after two straight days of declines as investors continue to pass earning results. The Dow rising 316 points, the Nasdaq up 164, S&P 500 up 38. // And after the closing bell, Chipotle Mexican Grill delivered financial results blowing past Wall Street expectations for its first quarter. Ongoing strength for its online orders and a tailwind from stimulus checks helped push its sales more than 20% higher. Chipotle is expecting same store sales growth as high 30% in the 2nd quarter. // And Lam Research reported record quarterly results which show proof that chipmakers are spending more to build out their capacity amid the global semiconductor shortage. // And Ford is planning more downtime at five North American factories due to the semiconductor shortage, further disrupting output of the F-150 pickup truck, the company’s biggest money maker.
